We eat plant roots, fruits, leaves, flowers and seeds. Knowing which edible plants grow in the Truckee Meadows and how to cultivate them sets you on a path to grow your own. This path can be rewarding and keep you fed throughout the year. Growing conditions in our short growing season area can be unique, especially with our variable weather, so knowing which plants to start early and which should be started later saves time, money and energy.
